Barbara Oceanlight Não Poderá Vir A Porto Alegre

Recebi com tristeza o email, reproduzido abaixo, de Barbara Oceanlight, informando de sua impossibilidade de deslocar-se a Porto Alegre, por motivos de saúde. A tradução livre para o portugues foi gentilmente feita pela Câmara de Vereadores, através do gabinete do Vereador Toni Proença.

"Caro Cezar,

Eu sou tão pesarosa em ter que informá-lo que eu não poderei viajar ao Brasil para o festival e as outras atividades de planejamento. Eu sei que você trabalhou duramente por muitos meses e fez muitos planos e arranjos maravilhosos para mim. Mas parece que, preferivelmente, por muito tempo eu estou tendo que viver minha vida de maneira comprometida e cansativa inclusive com meu pé quebrado. Essa é a primeira vez em 2 anos que fico doente, e ainda sinto os sintomas hoje. O doutor disse qye serão aproximadamente 10 dias para melhorar completamente, e preciso muito descansar. Eu sei que este é um desapontamento grande , e eu estou verdadeiramente pesarosa.

Entretanto, uma amigo sugeriu que talvez nós pudessemos empregar as tecnologias novas para que eu forneça materiais eletronicamente e/ou faça alguma sorte de fluência viva da comunicação audiovisual. Eu compreendo que é muito tarde para fazer mudanças. Além disso, eu sei que todos se empenharam. Para mim, é muito pesaroso decepcioná-lo. Barbara."

I am so sorry to have to inform you that I will not be able to travel to Brasil for the Festival and the other planned activities. I know that you have worked so hard on this for many months and made many wonderful plans and arrangements for me. I have kept hoping that all would be fine for the trip, and was expecting to keep getting stronger. But it seems that instead, the longer I am having to live my life in this compromised and tiring way with my broken leg, the more worn down I have become. It's the first time in 2 years that I have been sick, and I still feel many symptoms today. The doctor said it will be about 10 days before it's all cleared up, and that the main thing I need is lots of rest. My immune system is weak and I would really put myself at risk in doing major travel. I know this is a big disappointment and I am truly sorry.

However, a friend suggested that maybe we would be able to make use of the new technologies for me to provide materials electronically and/or do some sort of audio-visual conferencing/ live streaming. I know very little about this but have people who can help me and I'm willing to give it a try. I wasn't planning on having internet on stage for my presentation, rather to have some Power Point slides and photos from the campaign. Let me know how you would like to proceed from here. I understand that it's very late to be making changes. Again, I really hoped that all would work out and I'm very sorry for disappointing you. Barbara."
